My Grandmother died
Well no sooner was I back from my aunts funeral, I was off again to visit my grandmother (Beatrice) in hospital, she had only days to live and my father and I had to rush up north where she lived.
She died the next day, but I'm out of poetry for the moment... except one little statement:
ok universe... enough already!

My Aunt Died
My aunt Marjorie died this week. Here is a little poetry for a requiem.
If you knew her, by all means visit the site that was set up for her.
Behold, I have dwelt in Time and I live through Eternity. I have traveled along the pathway and now shine forth from the horizon. I am yesterday and I know tomorrow, I shall never more be overcome. I now know the secret having finished the work which was planned at the Beginning.
If you knew her, by all means visit the site that was set up for her.

Meteor over Edmonton
This was just so cool to see, that I wanted to share it here.
I saw something similar (just a bit smaller) over Toronto on the night of my seconds daughters birthday... I tried to describe it to my wife, but this makes it pretty clear.
The meteor I saw was bright all the way down and I didn't get to see the flare out at the end because it went below my line of observation.

My brother in the News
My brother is in Afghanistan at the moment with the Canadian Forces. Every now and then we see a new article with a quote from him.
Here are a couple of the most recent:
Here are a couple of the most recent:
- Soldiers keep Afghans away from the Taliban with work projects
"This is Pashmul. This is battlefield Medusa - my platoon fought through this whole area. I still remember exactly where the enemy bunkers were and this was our haunt, right?," he said.
- Canada rushes to modernize Afghan police force
"Every Afghan you see here today is making a pretty good salary, and they don't have a rifle in their hand," Capt. Pappin said.

Who would win the US election if the rest of the world could vote?
I found a site that actually allows the rest of the world to vote it the US election... not that the votes would be counted, but at least someone is giving the rest of us a say.
Go ahead, cast your vote!
>> If The World Could Vote
Actually, it's no contest (Obama by a land slide) but you might as well add your X to the ballot.

Americans are scary folk
Ignorance is scary because of what it can lead to.
I caught a YouTube video today with McCain supporters on one side and Obama supporters on the other...
Now I'm thinking this is some sort of gag. I can't believe that the McCain supporters are so obviously ignorant.
I'm Canadian, so I obviously don't have the same emotional reaction to an American election and I doubt that McCain or Obama will have much different policies where Canada is concerned, however based solely on the the evidence presented in the video of McCain supporters, I very much hope Obama wins the US election.
... but...
Those McCain supporters seem like pretty violent people... what happens when they don't get their way?
Hmm... I guess Canada could let the US join our constitutional monarchy... then we'd really see those folks upset.
